Twelve-year-old Manu here is on an arduous musical venture to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. He is undertaking the marathon effort with one of the most ancient musical instruments, the jalatharang. Jalatharang is a set of China bowls filled with water, which give out various musical notes when struck with a light iron or wooden mallet.

The doyen of Hindi film music, Manna Dey has lamented the lack of knowledge about Hindustani classical music among young singers and said that some obsecne songs made a mockery of music. "Music is not totally out. While some have awareness and knowledge in general, it is lacking among the young singers of today", he told PTI.

It's a research which can shed new light on seasonal depression in humans -- birds know to sing during spring because of "hormonal changes" triggered by longer days. A team of international researchers has traced the changes in the bird's brain -- they have found that cells near the pituitary gland release a hormone during spring in readiness for attracting mates.
