FACT denies gas leak from its plant
The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) today categorically stated there was no leakage of any toxic gas from its unit in Ambalamedu near here.
Refuting reports that FACT's plant was the source of the suspected ammonia leakage last night, FACT Deputy Chief Manager M Anil Raghavan in a statement said,'' FACT wishes to bring to the attention of all concerned that there was no leak of any toxic gas from the Ambalamedu unit as our plants are shut down for annual maintenance ever since April.'' He said the movement of ammonia was also suspended in view of the recent visit of Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
Mr Raghavan further added that the ammonia storage in FACT was maintained at the design condition through refrigeration and it was confirmed that there was no leakage.
