Eight-hour duty for police constables in more stations
While taking steps to make the state police a people-friendly force, eight-hour duty to constables would be introduced in 56 more police stations by July this year, Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said here.
Inaugurating the delegates' session of the state conference of the Kerala Police Association here, Balakrishnan said people's police system would be introduced in all the municipalities and corporations within an year.
This system had already been introduced in 17 police stations and it would be extended to as many stations by July, he said.
The Government would not show any lenience towards the land mafia and land grabbers and, if necessary, a law to keep them in preventive detention upto six months would be brought in, he said.
Kerala Police Association President K K Jose, Police Officers Assoication president Lalji, DIG (North) Ananthakrishnan and Wayanad District Superintendent of police Vijaya Sankar spoke.
