Seeking relief on the Supreme Court order on noise pollution during religious functions, a delegation of Malyalee organisations met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and sought his intervention in the matter. The delegation led by AICC secretary Tom Vaddakan also submitted a memorandum emphasising the role of 'Panchavadhyam', the traditional temple music and fire crackers in the festivals of Kerala across all religions, a release said.

"Prime Minister has assured to take up the matter with the Law Ministry," Vadakkan said.

The apex court's order had made it difficult for religious festivals to be held in traditional fervour as it bans loud music and firework from 10 pm to 6 am, it added.
