KPCC demands judicial probe into Smart City project deal
The KPCC today demanded a judicial probe by a sitting judge into the deal entered into between the state government and Dubai based TECOM Investments for setting up the Smart City IT project at Kochi alleging that conditions in the agreement were against the interests of the state.
Addressing a press meet at the KPCC headquarters here, KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the final agreement was signed after making changes in certain conditions approved in the cabinet.
Chennithala also said the present conditions were in favour of the Technology Freezone Authority (TECOM).
On the anti-eviction drive in Munnar, Chennithala said the process of eviction had slowed down now. He wanted transparency and effective action against encroachers.
He said workers who lost jobs due to demolition of resorts in Munnar should be given jobs and they should be rehabilitated.
The government has not initiated action against the officials who helped the persons encroach into public lands, he said.
Chennithala also wanted Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to examine the allegations against State PWD Minister T U Kuruvila that the minister had put up a petrol bunk on encroached land at Adimali.
The self-financing professional colleges issue should be resolved through talks with managements, he said to a question.
