Education
Kerala is the most literate State in India. Kerala achieved the highest literacy rate of 90.92% among the states in India . Kerala was the first state in to declare total literacy in one town in 1989, and subsequently, total literacy in a whole region in 1990. National Literacy Mission declared total literacy in the whole state of Kerala on April 18, 1991.
In the sector of education in Kerala the accent is on improving quality. In higher education the available infrastructure is being optimally used through new job oriented courses. The 'Sarva Siksha Abhiyan' of Government of India will be properly integrated with local government plan and education.
