The temple is dedicated to Duryodhana, the antagonist in the epic the Mahabharatham. Toddy (an alcoholic beverage extracted from the coconut palm) is the ritual offering in this temple. The annual festival is a one-day long event celebrated with the staging of a variety of folk arts. In the evenings, the spectacular Kettukazhcha procession with Kala (bull motif) Kuthira (horse motif) and a decorated temple cart is held.
