India won't succumb to Taliban threat
Expressing outrage over the killing of Indian construction workers in Afghanistan by suspected Taliban, India on Saturday said it would never succumb to the threats by the Islamist militia and measures would be taken to protect Indians working in that country.
"We will take necessary measures to safeguard Indians working in Afghanistan," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters here.
Mukherjee said that those injured in the attack would be brought back to India for treatment.
"Despite the Taliban attack, India will remain firm on its stand and not succumb to the pressures of the militia," Mukherjee asserted.
Suspected Taliban militants on Saturday killed three personnel of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and injured several in a suicide attack near Minar area in Nimroz province.
Referring to CPM's agitation against Congress for rise in essential commodities, Mukherjee said the blame was unjustified as Congress had put in place the PDS system across the country and the Marxists were responsible for its ''collapse'' in West Bengal.
