Vishu celebrated with fervour and gaiety

Vishu, the festival of prosperity, was celebrated in Kerala with traditional fervor and gaiety. Right from early morning, devotees flocked the temples to have a glimpse of the Vishukkani and attend special pujas.
In Hindu households across the state, the day began with family members making their way to puja rooms blindfolded to view the Kani as a harbinger of good fortune.
Children and younger members of every family received Vishukkaineettam from the elders. In some places, the celebrations were marked by the bursting of crackers.
