Thapar University, Patiala has invited applications for admission to the first year Under Graduate BTech Biotechnology (40 seats) and BE Programmes in Chemical Engineering (75 seats), Civil Engineering (75), Computer Engineering (110), Electrical Engineering (75), Electronics & Communication Engineering (110), Electronics (Instrumentation & Control) Engineering (75), Mechanical Engineering (110) and Industrial Engineering (BE[IE]-MBA) (30).

Programmes except BE [IE]-MBA is four years duration while duration of BE [IE]-MBA will be five years with BE & MBA to be awarded on successful completion of the programme.

Applicant should be a citizen of India, born on or after October 1, 1984 (5 years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates) and should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate Physics, Mathematics and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Computer Science and should have qualified in AIEEE-2009 with at least 20% aggregate marks (15% for SC/ST candidates), except in case of seats over and above the sanctioned seats and should possess good moral character.

Of the 700 seats, 350 are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located in the state of Punjab. Children of employees of Punjab Govt. posted/deputed outside Punjab will be eligible for admission against these seats irrespective of the location of School/College from where they pass their qualifying examination provided further that these candidates should have passed their qualifying examination (10+2) or its equivalent during such posting/deputation of the parent(s) outside Punjab. 2% seats (7) are reserved for outstanding sports persons possessing sports gradation certificates A, B or C issued by the Director of Sports, Punjab. 50% (350) of the sanctioned seats are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located outside the state of Punjab.

Tuition fee per Semester for BE/B.Tech is Rs.48,000/-. Other items of fee are also payable at the time of admission/in each semester.
