Mayabazaar - Malayalam Movie - Mammootty, Tisca Chopra, Kalabhavan Mani

Mayabazaar directed by debutant Thomas Sebastian with action, comedy, songs and sentiments was shot in Pollachi and Kochi. Mammootty dons the role of a man called Rameshan who buys old cars, dismantles them and sells the parts. Rameshan is the son of Aakri Damodharan (Rajan P Dev) who migrated to Mayabazaar from Cherpulassery.

Aakri Damadharan is a typical character who occasionally steals money from his son and sets on for pilgrimages.Whenever Rameshan finds his father on long tours he is very sure that some of his money is already stolen.

But Rameshan a lovable and fearless man has a past which very few know. Rameshan often has to deal with a rival gang lead by Bhadran (Kalabhavan Mani) who causes him problems, all based on his relation with a girl Maya, who runs a tea stall in the market. Apart from these petty fights and roam around Mammooty's characters too is involved in some social activities including that of providing food to a local hospital. In one of his outings to the hospital he founds something so curious and embarrassing that is all set to change him for ever.

Tamil actoress Sheela, who has been christened as Maya in Mollywood, and Tisca Chopra (Taare Zameen Par fame) play the female leads in the movie. Vincent Ashok of Pokkiri fame debuts into Malayalam playing the villain in Mayabazaar.

The others in the cast of Mayabazaar includes Kalabhavan Mani, Rajan P. Dev. Lalu Alex, Suraj Venjarammoodu, T.G. Ravi, Salimkumar, Sabitha Anand, Saikumar, Bijukuttan, Master Akhil, Yamini Sharma and Anil Murali.

The movie is cinematographed by Manoj Pillai and Bijith Bala does the editing. Lyrics for the songs are by Sarath Vayalar and the music is composed by Rahulraj. The two songs of the movie ‘Asal Aslai’ and ‘Jil Jil’ are already in the top of the charts.

Mayabazaar is being produced by Saji s Mangalathu under the banner of Akhil Cinema and distributed by Ayngaran international - the big banner from Kollywood.

Akkare Akkare Akkare is a Malayalam comedy movie starring Mohanlal, Sreenivasan. Scripted by Sreenivasan and directed by Priyadarshan, it represents popular Malayalam cinema at its best and established the Mohanlal-Sreenivasan combination as one of its most memorable and bankable cinematic pairs.

Nadodikattu drew upon relevant social factors affecting Kerala such as poverty and unemployment, which, along with excellent scripting and comic performances, contributed to its runaway success. It gave way to two sequels, Pattanapravesham and Akkare Akkare Akkare.

Jayaram figures as Devan, an honest agriculture up against the wiles and guiles of a local zamindar. The other Jayaram is a fighting exponent Palani. Of course, the two have female complements in the form of Rambha and Indraja. Not surprisingly, one of them, happens to be the villain zamindars daughter.

Of course, to provide comic relief there is the huge entourage of Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Jagathy and Kalabhavan Mani. Then there are also the likes of Janardhanan, Vijayaraghavan, Sai Kumar, Riyaz Khan and Bindu Panickkar.

Chanakyan is a malayalam movie starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role of the protagonist(Johnson) directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar. Kamal stars along with Jayaram in this movie. He try to avenge a politician portrayed by Thilakan who destroys his family for falling in love with his daughter.

This film is interesting as Kamal adopts clever and brilliant new tactics for defeatig the politician. In the end Kamal succeeds in taking revenge on Thilakan as he forces Thilakan to shoot him. The acting style of kamal in this film is what that makes it different and the movie has a brilliant piece of background score by Mohan Sithara.

In Harihar Nagar is a Malayalam movie by the director duo Siddique-Lal. Mahadevan (Mukesh (actor)), Govindan Kutty (Siddique), Appukuttan (Jagadish) and Thomas Kutty (Asokan) are four young men enamoured by lovely Maya (Geetha Vijayan), the next door neighbour of Mahadevan.
