Kalady
Kalady situated on the banks of river Periyar, is the birth place of Sree Sankaracharya, the great Indian Philosopher who lived in the 8th century. Adi Sankara's Shrines in Kaladi is open to all pilgrims irrespective of religion or caste. Sringeri matt temples, Sree Ramakrishna Advaita Asharmam and Adi Shankara Keerthi Stamba Mandapam are the important centers in Kalady.
