The celebrated music composer A.R. Rahman, a name synonymous with brilliance, is now making headlines for personal reasons. Reports suggest that Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, are set to separate after 29 years of marriage. The couple, who married in 1995, have three children: Khatija Rahman, Raheema Rahman, and A.R. Ameen.

In response to these reports, A.R. Rahman shared an emotional note on social media platform X, addressing the situation:

“We had hoped this relationship would reach its 30th year. But everything in life has an unseen end. Even the heavens may tremble at the weight of broken hearts. While it will never be the same, we seek meaning amidst the chaos. We are deeply grateful for the privacy and kindness shown to us during this time,” Rahman wrote.

The news of their separation, confirmed by Saira’s lawyer Vandana Shah, attributes the decision to emotional challenges between the two. According to Vandana’s statement, “The decision to part ways comes after years of emotional strain. Despite their deep love for one another, irreconcilable differences and an emotional disconnect made it hard to continue their journey together.”

A.R. Rahman’s son, A.R. Ameen, also shared an Instagram story requesting fans and the media to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

The couple’s relationship had often been admired, with Rahman previously revealing in an interview that he entrusted his mother to find him a bride. Saira Banu, the sister-in-law of actor Rahman’s wife Mehrunnisa, eventually became his life partner.

The news of their separation has left fans shocked and heartbroken, as the couple had been a symbol of strength and unity for nearly three decades. Fans have taken to social media to express their support for the family, respecting their request for privacy while processing this unexpected turn of events.
