While Tamil Nadu lovingly refers to actor Ajith Kumar as Thala, he holds a special place in the hearts of fans across the region. The nickname Thala originated from his character in the movie Dheena, directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Initially known as the Ultimate Star, fans eventually began calling him Thala, inspired by his role in the film.
However, Ajith’s recent public appeal has sparked discussions on social media. The actor has requested his fans to refrain from addressing him with titles like Kadavule… Ajithe! (Oh God… Ajith!) during public events or on social platforms. In a statement, Ajith expressed that such practices are uncomfortable and urged fans to avoid such behavior.
The statement, shared by his PR manager Suresh Chandra, clarified that Ajith prefers being addressed simply by his name or initials, without any added titles or epithets. The statement was shared in both Tamil and English on social media.
The phrase Kadavule… Ajithe! became popular after a fan used it in a YouTube video, which quickly went viral across Tamil Nadu. Kadavul translates to “God” in Tamil, and the term was often used humorously or ironically on social media.
This isn’t the first time Ajith has made such a request. He had earlier asked fans to stop calling him Thala and instead address him as Ajith Kumar or AK. A few years ago, Ajith also dissolved his fan association to avoid unwarranted fanfare.
Ajith Kumar, who values his privacy, rarely shares personal details or family photos on social media. Occasionally, his wife Shalini shares glimpses of their family life on her Instagram account, which she started in late 2022.
Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Ajith’s upcoming films, Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly.
Ajith’s candid remarks about respecting boundaries and keeping things simple have been widely discussed and appreciated on social media.
