Popular Malayalam actress Navya Nair, who has made a remarkable return to the film industry after a hiatus, recently opened up about her life, career, and motherhood.
A Personal Take on Motherhood
Navya, who is now active in both cinema and dance, shared her thoughts on being a mother to her 14-year-old son. Contrary to the traditional image of a mother, she clarified that she doesn’t see herself as someone who controls or forces a particular upbringing on her child.“I don’t think I’ve been a mother mentally yet. I still live my own life. It’s not about parenting in a pre-planned way. My son is free to grow as he wants, and I just need to be there for him.”Navya explained that her parenting style is liberal, contrasting with her more traditional mother, who is quick to notice any changes in the child. She also mentioned that her son, Sai, communicates openly with her about any problems he faces at school.
Promises Made to Parents
Navya also discussed the promises she made to her parents when she entered the film industry. She assured them that she wouldn’t marry for love, wouldn’t ask for a mobile phone, and wouldn’t quit her studies. These promises, she said, were the reason her parents supported her decision to pursue acting.“I gave my parents three promises—no love marriage, no mobile phone requests, and no stopping my studies. I kept my word, and that’s why they allowed me to act.”
Return to the Industry
Navya, who took a break from acting after her marriage, made her comeback in 2022 with the film Oru Thee. She has since regained her position in the industry and is now actively involved in films and dance. Her most recent film, Janaki Janaki, has been released, and upcoming projects include Pathirakali and Varaham. Apart from acting, she continues to teach dance, showcasing her multifaceted career.
Looking Forward to the Future
Navya’s fans are eagerly awaiting her upcoming films as she continues to balance her personal and professional life. Her candid reflections on motherhood, her career, and the promises she kept to her parents have garnered a lot of attention, offering insight into her journey as both a mother and an actress.
