The super-hit film Dalapathi, starring megastar Mammootty and Thalaiva Rajinikanth, is set for a re-release in theaters. The film will return to theaters on the occasion of Rajinikanth’s birthday. Directed by Mani Ratnam, Dalapathi is making a comeback to theaters after 34 years.
The re-release is scheduled for December 12, 2024. Alongside Mammootty and Rajinikanth, the film features Amrish Puri, Shreevidya, Bhanupriya, Shobana, Geetha, and Aravind Sami in key roles. The film was written and directed by Mani Ratnam, with G. Venkiteshwaran as the producer. The story of Dalapathi was inspired by the life of Karna from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
The cinematography for Dalapathi was handled by Santosh Sivan, and Suresh Urs was the editor. The film was originally released on November 5, 1991. Previously, Mammootty’s Palerimanikyam (a murder mystery) was re-released, but it didn’t achieve the expected success during its second release. Now, other hit films of Mammootty, like Aavittam Thirunaal Arogya Sriman and Valliettan, are also preparing for re-release.
