Anna Ben: “Deepika’s affection for me was something special because I am a Malayali”

Anna Ben who won the hearts of Malayalam audiences with hits like Kumbalangi Nights, Kapella, and Helen, has now earned recognition across Indian cinema. Her role in Kalki, a massive pan-Indian project, further elevated her fame. Anu recently shared her experience working with Deepika Padukone in Kalki, where she mentioned the special bond they shared, especially because she is a Malayali.

Anu said, “Deepika and I spent a few days together, although we didn’t have many scenes together. But when she found out I was a Malayali, she showed me a lot of affection. She told me that she had watched Kumbalangi Nights, although she couldn’t watch it in its entirety. She shared that Ranveer Singh has watched the movie, and they spoke about it. Deepika is extremely professional. She would arrive on time and leave right after the shoot. As for the special bond, it was because we both didn’t know Telugu. She didn’t know it either, and that made us feel like we were on the same page.”

Anu Ben’s role as Kaayra in Kalki has gained massive popularity. In a star-studded cast featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and others, Anu Ben made a remarkable impact. She performed all her action scenes without a double and expressed that her expectations were far exceeded when she saw the film in theaters.

“Working on green screen was one thing, but watching the movie in theaters with all the technical excellence was an unforgettable experience,” she added. After the success of the first part of Kalki, audiences are eagerly waiting for the second part.
