Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi has once again opened up about her views on marriage in a recent interview with Vanitha magazine. She candidly shared that she doesn’t feel love or marriage is meant for her, based on her self-awareness. She also reflected on her journey towards self-discipline and how it shaped her life.
“It was only in my 30s that I developed self-discipline,” Aishwarya said. “During my younger years, even being teased lightly would upset me. I worked hard to earn the label of a ‘good child.’ While I enjoyed playing with friends and watching TV, that wasn’t what others expected of me.
I felt obligated to do things that made my parents happy and to hear them say I was a ‘good girl.’ Now, I live with discipline and restraint, but it’s purely for myself. My decisions are mine alone, and they’re not meant to please anyone else. Do we really have to give up our desires and live for someone else?” she questioned.
Aishwarya also spoke about how her parents initially lacked an understanding of the film industry but have now gained confidence in her abilities.
“When you love someone, the first investment in that relationship is yourself. Without realizing it, my priorities shift, and my expectations increase. That can create difficulties for the person I’m with. Why should someone else suffer because of me? For my own happiness and peace, isn’t it better to stay single? From what I’ve realized about myself, love and marriage don’t seem to be for me.
If someone were to come into my life, wouldn’t the same question arise again? Even then, I’m not going to change myself. But let me tell you, I absolutely love seeing other people get married,” she added with a smile.
