The highly anticipated Malayalam movie Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, has completed its filming. The film is set to hit theaters on March 27, 2024, after a countdown of 117 days. Fans are eagerly awaiting this cinematic spectacle, which is the sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer.
The final scene of Empuraan was shot near the Malampuzha Dam reservoir. Sharing the update with fans, Prithviraj posted on his social media:
“At 5:35 am today, by the banks of the Malampuzha reservoir, we wrapped up the last shot of Empuraan. See you in theaters in 117 days.”
A Global Journey of Filming
The film’s production began on October 5, 2023, in Delhi and spanned various locations, including Shimla, Ladakh, Gujarat, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, and Ernakulam in India, as well as international locations like the USA, UK, Dubai, and Ras Al Khaimah. Over 14 months, Empuraan involved thousands of people and cutting-edge technology, ranging from 350-foot cranes to drone-mounted cameras.

The film was a phenomenal success at the Kerala box-office, it broke all existing records in Malayalam cinema until then.[1] It had a theatrical run of more than 366 days in Ernakulam Little Shenoys, with regular shows, and theatrical run of 300 days in Thiruvananthapuram Ajantha and more than 200 days in Kottayam Asha, Palakkad Priya, Chengalai Chithra with noon shows.
