“Pushpa 2” Breaks Records, Surpasses Baahubali

The much-awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, has exceeded expectations and created a storm at the box office. Despite mixed critical responses, the film shattered several records, including the Kerala box office collection of Baahubali 2.

With a massive ₹6.20 crore collection on its opening day in Kerala, Pushpa 2 now holds the record for the highest first-day collection by a Telugu film in the state. It surpassed the ₹5.45 crore opening day record set by Baahubali 2 and also outperformed the opening-day earnings of S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR.

Unprecedented Fan Frenzy

Fan shows began as early as 6 a.m. on the release day, and special midnight screenings were organized by distributors E4 Entertainment. The film witnessed extraordinary enthusiasm, with packed theaters and celebrations across multiple locations.

Nationwide and Global Impact

On the national level, Pushpa 2 broke records previously held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, setting the benchmark for the biggest opening day collection in Indian cinema. Trade analysts predict that the film has cemented Allu Arjun’s status as the star of 2024.

Globally, Pushpa 2 is estimated to have crossed ₹270 crore in total collections on its opening day. The Hindi version alone contributed ₹85 crore, while it became the first Indian film to earn ₹50 crore each from Telugu and Hindi markets on the first day. Released across 12,000 screens worldwide, including 500 in Kerala, the film has set a new standard for Indian cinema.

Amid the celebration, a tragic incident occurred in Hyderabad, where a young woman lost her life in a stampede at a screening. This has added a shadow of controversy to the film’s success story.
