Although Keerthy Suresh is a Malayali much like Nayanthara and Asin, her career skyrocketed after making a mark in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Today, she is one of the highest-paid actresses in South India. Over the years, Keerthy has transformed herself, adopting a Bollywood-inspired style with a stunning makeover that includes weight loss and a refined sense of fashion.
Keerthy recently tied the knot with businessman Antony Thattill in a private ceremony in Goa, attended only by close friends and family. Post-marriage, Keerthy has been seen wearing the thali (sacred wedding thread) at public events, which has attracted both admiration and ridicule online. This is reminiscent of the trolling Nayanthara faced for continuing to wear her thali visibly after her wedding.
In a recent interview, Keerthy explained why she continues to wear the thali. “I wear the mangalsutra everywhere because it is sacred. I will transition the thali thread to a gold chain on a significant day—perhaps seven or ten days later. However, we haven’t chosen that day yet. I think it might happen sometime after January,” she said.
Keerthy shared that some suggested she tuck the thali inside her attire for promotional events, but she chose otherwise. “The thali should rest close to the heart. It’s sacred and powerful. The longer it remains on the yellow thread, the more powerful it is. Once transferred to a gold chain, it becomes just another ornament. Some advised me to hide it under my outfit, but honestly, I think wearing the thali visibly makes me look hot. I’m celebrating it,” Keerthy said with confidence.
Keerthy’s stunning look in a maroon saree at her thali kettu (wedding ceremony) also became a widely discussed topic. Her elegance and charm in the traditional attire further cemented her status as one of South India’s most celebrated actresses.
