6-Year-Old Arrested in Myanmar for Assassination of Retired High-Ranking Military Officer

Myanmar arrests six-year-old girl over killing of general - Times of India

Yangon, Myanmar -6 June 2025 A shocking incident has occurred. Myanmar’s military has detained 16 people as well as a girl aged six as part of the assassination attempt of former General Cho Tun Aung. This incident happened on the 22nd of May 2025 at Mayangon Township, Yangon.

Incident Overview

Cho Tun Aung, aged 68, was slain near his home as he walked with his granddaughter. The group of militants named”the Golden Valley Warriors claimed responsibility for the shooting, pointing to his role in the training of security personnel in the Myanmar’s National Defense College and accusing the group of assisting military in attacks against civilians.

Arrests and Allegations

In the group of 16 are the three women and 13 men and Lin Latt Shiwe who is the daughter of six years old the suspected assassin. The family was arrested in Bagan. In addition, the owner of a private clinic that was accused of providing medical assistance for the shooter who suffered injuries by the gunman’s attack.

The military junta labelled all prisoners as “terrorists” with alleged links to the National Unity Government (NUG) The NUG is not involved in any way.
