Mammootty’s iconic character Arakkal Madhavanunni, from the Malayalam film Valliettan, remains one of the most celebrated mass characters in Malayalam cinema. Directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Ranjith, Valliettan achieved great success with its powerful dialogues, intense action, and Mammootty’s larger-than-life portrayal. Now, the film is set to return to theaters, capitalizing on the current trend of re-releases in Malayalam cinema. The movie, originally released on September 10, 2000, will reappear on the big screen in a 4K visual format and Dolby Atmos sound, thanks to Matinee Now.
The re-release, coming 24 years after its original debut, promises Malayalam cinema fans an unforgettable, nostalgic experience, enhanced with modern technology. Alongside its compelling story and standout performances, Valliettan became famous for its memorable songs and Mammootty’s striking portrayal of Madhavanunni.
The film features a stellar cast, including Shobhana, Siddique, Manoj K. Jayan, Poornima Indrajith, Innocent, N.F. Varghese, Kalabhavan Mani, Vijayakumar, Sudheesh, and others. Re-releasing it also gives audiences a rare chance to revisit some of these late actors’ performances on the big screen. Valliettan is notable not only for its cast but also for its impressive crew; Ravi Varman, the cinematographer for hits like Ponniyin Selvan and Dasavathaaram, handled the cinematography for Valliettan.
The background score, created by Rajamani, who composed for numerous films across languages, added depth and intensity to the film’s storytelling.
Social media is buzzing with excitement, as fans eagerly anticipate hearing Arakkal Madhavanunni’s iconic dialogues and powerful screen presence in high-definition 4K and Dolby sound.
