Tovino Thomas, who plays a triple role, stars in the film produced by Listin Stephen under the banner of ARM Magic Frames and Zakariya Thomas under UGM Motion Pictures. Ajayan’s Second Theft, which tells a story spanning three generations, was released in theaters in five languages: Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Released last month, the film grossed over 100 crore rupees worldwide. It reportedly earned 2.80 crore rupees from Kerala alone. Overseas collections amounted to 2.93 crore rupees, while it earned 52 lakhs from other parts of India. In 2024, Ajayan’s Second Theft is among the top Malayalam films released.
The movie revolves around the tale of three generations in the village of Cheeyothikkavu. The legend involves a star that fell from the sky and a temple lamp crafted from it, which the locals worship as a divine object made by cosmic forces. The film explores the mysteries and secrets behind this sacred lamp. The story begins in the 19th century and stretches to the 1990s. The main characters are Kunjikkelu, the warrior, thief Maniyan, and Ajayan. Each of them belongs to a different generation, and the story gracefully connects from Kunjikkelu to Maniyan to Ajayan. The first chapter of the tale is Ajayan’s First Theft. Although the story takes place in modern times, it narrates the three eventful life chapters in a non-linear fashion.
Reports also indicate that Ajayan’s Second Theft will soon be available for streaming on OTT. The cast includes Krithi Shetty, Surabhi Lakshmi, Rohini, Aju Varghese, Basil Joseph, Rajendran, and Madhupal. The cinematography is handled by Jomon T.
