Actor Dhanush and actress Nayanthara, both prominent figures in South Indian cinema, have been at the centre of social media discussions in recent days due to an ongoing copyright dispute. Despite the tension, the two stars recently appeared at the same private wedding ceremony, which has since gone viral on social media.
The controversy began when Dhanush opposed the use of behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage from the movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in a documentary about Nayanthara. While the documentary was directed by Vignesh Shivan, Dhanush claimed he had not given permission for the footage, which came from a movie he had produced. Dhanush reportedly demanded ₹10 crores as copyright compensation for the inclusion of just three seconds of footage in the documentary.
Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, directed by Vignesh Shivan and starring Nayanthara, was also the film where Nayanthara and Vignesh’s romantic relationship began. Amid this dispute, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of being controlling and manipulative, calling him a “masked individual.”
Adding fuel to the controversy, both stars recently attended the wedding of producer Akash Bhaskaran, who is also producing Dhanush’s upcoming movie, Idli Kada. Nayanthara arrived with her husband Vignesh Shivan, while Dhanush was already seated in the front row of the venue. Interestingly, despite sitting close to each other, Dhanush and Nayanthara avoided making eye contact or interacting, a moment that was captured and widely shared online.
Other notable attendees at the wedding included Sivakarthikeyan and music composer Anirudh. Fans, thrilled to see the two stars under the same roof amidst the ongoing feud, quickly made the video viral.
The core issue remains unresolved, as the three-second clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan featured in Nayanthara’s documentary, released on her 40th birthday, is still a point of contention. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see how the legal battle unfolds.
