South Indian superstar Anushka Shetty is all set to make her debut in Malayalam cinema with Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer, where she stars alongside Jayasurya. Directed by Rojin Thomas, the film is based on the legendary story of Kadamattathu Kathanar, a mystical figure from Kerala folklore.
On Anushka’s birthday, the filmmakers shared a character video introducing her role as Neela. The short video artfully hints at her character, depicting strands of colored threads coming together to weave an intriguing image.
The team posted, “Wishing a magical birthday to the beloved Anushka Shetty. She makes a grand debut in Malayalam cinema as a captivating character in Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer.” This project will also feature Prabhu Deva in a significant role, and Jayasurya leads the cast as the titular sorcerer.
Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer will be released in two parts, with the first part set to premiere soon. Remarkably, the film will be available in 17 languages, including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, English, Bengali, Chinese, French, Korean, Italian, Russian, Indonesian, Japanese, and German, making it accessible to a global audience. Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Gokulam Movies, Kathanar promises to be a visually immersive and culturally rich cinematic experience.
