Pallotti is a journey into the nostalgia of 90s kids, capturing the essence of an era when simple joys like pallotti (a local candy), pulimutthayi, and gas mutthayi held a special place in children’s hearts, long before brands like Snickers and Kinder Joy took over. For those who grew up with school memories of playing in ponds, running along fields, shooting pretend guns, and getting messy uniforms, this film brings it all back. It recalls the innocent fun of childhood games and friendships cherished by the 90s generation.
Directed by newcomer Jithin Raj, Pallotti isn’t just a film for children. It’s a heartwarming portrayal for both kids and those who long for their childhoods. With characters like Kannan, Unni, and Manjulan from the village of Kulankara, the story reflects the simple pleasures of childhood friendships, innocence, and memories. Unni, a 7th grader, idolizes Kannan as his hero, while Kannan, a 5th grader, admires his older friend like a superhero. Their adventures, conversations, and school journeys paint a nostalgic picture for the audience.
Asif Ali, after watching the film, said he wished he could have been a part of it. His heartfelt words have resonated on social media, adding even more excitement for fans looking forward to seeing Pallotti. With Jithin Raj’s heartfelt direction and Deepak Vasan’s beautiful screenplay, the film promises an emotional experience that will delight audiences, especially those who grew up in the 90s.”
