The highly anticipated second installment of the pan-Indian blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, is gearing up for its next phase. The first part of this sci-fi epic was a major hit, grossing over ₹1000 crore globally. Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel. Producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt recently revealed at the International Film Festival of Goa that 35% of the second part has already been shot, and pre-production work is ongoing. The second part of Kalki marks Deepika Padukone’s return to acting after her maternity break. Following the global success of the first part, the sequel is being planned as an equally grand release. A Futuristic Saga
Set 6000 years after the Kurukshetra war, Kalki envisions a dystopian world where the last two cities, Kashi and Shambhala, represent destruction and hope, respectively. Kashi, a city on the brink of ruin, is ruled by Supreme Yaskin, a 200-year-old tyrant who believes himself to be a god. Amid this chaos, Bhairava (played by Prabhas), a bounty hunter from Kashi, dreams of earning enough points to enter the highly advanced “Complex City,” a massive inverted pyramid structure inaccessible to the poor.
Shambhala, on the other hand, is a sanctuary for rebels and dreamers, led by Mariam, who yearn for the rebirth of an avatar to end the tyranny. However, every rebellion against Supreme Yaskin ends in tragedy.
Star-Studded Cast
Prabhas returns as Bhairava, alongside Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama and Kamal Haasan as the formidable antagonist, Supreme Yaskin. The first installment also featured Vijay Deverakonda and Dulquer Salmaan in guest appearances, adding to its appeal.
