After a brief hiatus, Dulquer Salmaan’s film Lucky Bhaskar made its theatrical release to critical acclaim and box office success. Surpassing expectations, the film has grossed over ₹111 crores globally. It has now been made available on OTT via Netflix, where it continues to garner positive reviews.
Reports suggest that Dulquer’s Lucky Bhaskar marks a massive comeback, silencing critics after previous setbacks. With strong word-of-mouth publicity, the film expanded its screen count and achieved success across multiple languages. Directed and written by Venky Atluri, the movie stars Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead and was produced under the banner of Sithara Entertainments. Dulquer’s last Malayalam outing was King of Kotha.
Plot Overview:
Set during the late 1980s and early 1990s, Lucky Bhaskar beautifully captures the essence of that era. Dulquer plays Bhaskar, a middle-class man working in a private bank, burdened by family debts and struggling to make ends meet despite having a steady job. Bhaskar pins his hopes on a job promotion, but his aspirations are crushed when the position is given to someone else. Left with no other choice, Bhaskar takes desperate measures to earn money, propelling the story into an engaging narrative.
While the first half focuses on Bhaskar’s life as a family man, the second half shifts gears, delving into the high-stakes world of financial crimes. The film cleverly integrates elements of Harshad Mehta’s infamous financial fraud, presenting a gripping storyline without directly showcasing his character. Though there’s no confirmation of a sequel, the film leaves intriguing loose ends, sparking curiosity.
Dulquer’s standout moments and the second-half twists ensure a thrilling cinematic experience, delivering plenty of highs for fans and audiences alike.
