There are some films that quietly make an impact without heavy promotions, surprising audiences in theaters. One such film was Gaganachari, which hit theaters this June. Directed by Arun Chandu, Gaganachari falls under the rare dystopian alien genre in Malayalam. Although the movie garnered positive feedback from viewers, it did not achieve major financial success in theaters. Now, for those who missed it in theaters, there’s a chance to watch the film as it begins streaming on OTT four months after its theatrical release.

The movie has been released on Amazon Prime. It originally premiered in theaters on June 21, and now, four months later, it is available for streaming. Gaganachari features Ganesh Kumar, Gokul Suresh, Aju Varghese, and Anarkali Marikar in lead roles. The story is set in 2040’s Kerala, with Ganesh Kumar portraying the role of an alien hunter, Victor Vasudevan.

The script was co-written by Shiva Sai and director Arun Chandu. Following the positive reception of the movie, the same team has announced a new film. Titled Maniyan Chittappan, the upcoming movie will feature Suresh Gopi in the titular role. The screenplay for Maniyan Chittappan is also being developed by Shiva Sai and Arun Chandu. Reports previously revealed that the film draws inspiration from the animated sci-fi sitcom Rick & Morty.

After receiving recognition at various international festivals, Gaganachari was also showcased at the Kerala Pop Con, where it received a warm response from the audience. Additionally, it was screened at several global film festivals, winning awards in categories like Best Film and Best Visual Effects at the New York Film Awards, Los Angeles Film Awards, and the Preman Asian Film Festival in Southern Italy. It was also screened at various festivals across America, Europe, and Singapore.
