Dulquer Salmaan’s film Lucky Bhaskar, which received a great response in theaters and was a massive success during its Diwali release, is now set for its OTT release. The film, directed by Venky Atluri, achieved remarkable box-office success, grossing over 100 crore rupees, and has continued to perform well in theaters. The movie not only made waves in Telugu and Malayalam but also had a strong presence in Tamil, earning impressive box-office collections.
Now, Lucky Bhaskar will begin streaming on Netflix on November 28. Reports suggest that Netflix acquired the OTT rights of the film for around ₹30 crore. The film will be available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Dulquer’s third consecutive hit in Telugu, Lucky Bhaskar has cemented his status as a major star in the South Indian film industry.
The film is being distributed in Kerala and the Gulf by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wafer Films and has already grossed over ₹15 crore in Tamil Nadu. The film stars Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead, and the music is composed by National Award-winning music director G. V. Prakash Kumar.
The story of Lucky Bhaskar is set during the late 1980s to the early 1990s, and the period is beautifully captured in the film. Dulquer plays the character Bhaskar, a middle-class man working in a private bank but struggling financially due to family misfortune. Despite having hopes of a promotion at the bank, Bhaskar’s life takes a dramatic turn when the promotion is given to someone else, leaving him desperate to find ways to earn money.
While the first half of the movie focuses on Bhaskar’s personal struggles, the second half delves into financial crimes, drawing inspiration from the infamous financial crimes of the 1990s, especially the case of Harshad Mehta. The director cleverly uses the power of financial games without ever showing the true face of the criminals. While the film does not explicitly mention a second part, it leaves some intriguing hints that keep the audience engaged.
Fans are excited as Lucky Bhaskar, one of Dulquer’s best performances, will now be available for streaming on Netflix.
