No Time to Think About a Sexually Repressed Society: Rima Kallingal

Recently, businessman Bobby Chemmanur was arrested following an accusation of sexual harassment by actress Honey Rose. In the wake of this, organizations such as AMMA (the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) and WCC (Women in Cinema Collective) publicly supported Honey Rose. However, criticism targeting Honey’s choice of attire began to surface online. Actress Rima Kallingal has now stepped forward to support Honey Rose and respond to these remarks.

Rima Kallingal known for voicing her opinions on contemporary issues, has now encouraged women to wear clothes they feel comfortable and happy in. Through an Instagram post, Rima urged women not to fear societal judgments about their attire, emphasizing that personal preferences matter the most. Rima’s post coincided with the ongoing Honey Rose-Bobby Chemmanur controversy and has garnered significant attention. Her post reads as follows:

“Dear women, wear clothes that make you feel joyful and comfortable—clothes that give you confidence and happiness. Our lives are too short to worry about what a sexually repressed, insecure, and fear-driven society thinks.”

Two days ago, Honey Rose came forward with allegations against Bobby Chemmanur, claiming she had a disturbing experience during an inauguration event. Following this, Bobby was arrested by the police. Reports suggest that Bobby’s bail request has been denied, and he is currently in 14-day judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Rima Kallingal is gearing up for her upcoming movie, Delulu, which features Anurag Kashyap in his first leading role in a Malayalam film. This movie, directed by the team behind Rifle Club, also stars Ramya Nambeeshan, Nikhila Vimal, Chandu Salimkumar, and Dawid Prakatt in key roles.
