Over 125 Screens in Kerala in the Fourth Week, Lucky Bhaskar’s Earnings

Lucky Bhaskar is proving to be a massive hit. The film, starring Dulquer Salmaan, is excelling at the box office. Lucky Bhaskar has grossed over ₹111 crores globally. In Kerala, the movie continues to run on more than 125 screens in its fourth week. From Kerala alone, the film has earned ₹20.50 crores.

Initially overlooked amidst the spotlight on Amaran’s Prabha, Lucky Bhaskar has become a phenomenal comeback for Dulquer, turning past failures into distant memories. With strong word-of-mouth publicity, the film gained more screens and achieved success across languages. This marks Dulquer’s return to the silver screen as the lead actor after a year-long gap. Released as a Diwali special, Dulquer shines as Lucky Bhaskar in this period drama thriller.

Directed and written by Venky Atluri, the film features Meenakshi Chaudhary as the lead actress. It is produced under the banner of Sithara Entertainments. Set in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the movie beautifully portrays the period. Dulquer plays Bhaskar, an ordinary man working in a private bank, yet burdened by family misfortunes, living without a penny to his name. Hoping for a promotion at work, Bhaskar adjusts to life, but his dreams are shattered when the promotion is given to someone else. Unable to cope with mounting debt, Bhaskar embarks on a journey to make money at any cost, and that’s when the pace of the movie picks up.

While the first half focuses on Bhaskar’s family life, the second half intensifies with the chess game of financial crimes. The film brilliantly incorporates the financial schemes of Harshad Mehta, one of India’s most infamous economic offenders. However, the director never explicitly portrays the character’s face, using only the power of the name. Although there’s no confirmation of a sequel, the film leaves intriguing elements that hint at possibilities. The second half moves forward with several “high” Dulquer moments, leaving audiences thrilled.

Dulquer’s last Malayalam release was King of Kotha, directed by Abhilash Joshiy.
