The intense revenge thriller Pani, which has successfully completed 50 days at the box office, has garnered praise from both critics and audiences. The film, known for its heavy action and family entertainment appeal, has been well-received by audiences of all kinds, including family viewers. The film’s remarkable box office collection has made it a standout, and as it completes its 50-day run in theaters, director and actor Joju George, along with the team, took to social media to express their thanks. Posts with captions like “Thank You 50 Days” and “50 Days of Pani” have been shared by the Pani crew.
Joju George, who began his career as a junior artist and gradually became a beloved actor in Malayalam and other regional languages, marked a significant milestone with Pani, which was his debut as a writer and director. The film has achieved remarkable success not just in Malayalam, but also in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Joju, drawing from his extensive experience in the industry, brought Pani to life with his direction, and his portrayal of the lead character was well-received.
In Pani, Joju’s character is paired with a young girl who has hearing and speech disabilities. Her portrayal was appreciated for its authenticity and depth. The film also featured a stellar cast, including Sagar Surya, Junais, singer Abhaya Hiranmayi, Prashanth Alex, Sujith Shankar, and about sixty new faces. Sagar and Junais particularly stood out with performances that left the audience in awe, playing antagonistic roles that were unlike anything Malayalam cinema had seen before.
The film, a mix of mass, thriller, and revenge genres, was produced under Joju George’s production company, Appu Pathu Pappu Productions, in collaboration with AD Studios and Sree Gokulam Movies. The film was distributed by Dream Big Films.
