People Said I Married for Sex: Divya Sreedhar Responds to Critics on Her Marriage with Kris Venugopal

The wedding of Kris Venugopal and Divya Sreedhar was one of the most discussed marriages of 2024. However, the couple faced relentless cyberattacks post their wedding, with many targeting their age difference and spreading malicious comments.Divya, who is 40, married Kris, who is 49. Yet, critics labeled Kris as an “old man” and spread rumors without knowing the facts. “Some even mocked him, calling him a grandfather, without understanding who he truly is,” said Divya.

Kris, known to his acquaintances as a highly educated and accomplished individual with multiple degrees, has been accused by some of being wealthy and using his money to attract Divya. However, Divya clarified, “I don’t even know his bank balance. People think he’s a billionaire who would give money to anyone who asks. In fact, he said people have even called him asking for cash.”

Divya’s Response to Personal Attacks

Divya opened up about her past, revealing, “I was 18 when I got married for the first time. At 32, I got divorced. Most of my good years were spent enduring abuse and insults.” She emphasized that her decision to remarry had nothing to do with societal expectations or shallow reasons.“People are upset because I married a man who is allegedly 60. But why is that a problem? Those calling him an old man don’t even know him. Some even said I married him for sex. How can people think like this? I didn’t marry for sex. Can’t one live without it? It’s just a part of life, not everything,” she added.

Marriage for a Secure Family

Divya explained that her decision to marry Kris was primarily for her children. “My kids needed a father figure. It was about ensuring their lives are secure. He is 49, and I’m 40. Even if he were 60, so what? Can’t people of that age marry?” she asked.

Continued Cyberattacks

Despite their efforts to clarify and move on, the couple continues to face online harassment. “It’s been months since our wedding, yet people won’t leave us alone. The cyberattacks just keep coming,” the couple lamented. Through it all, Kris and Divya stand united, urging society to respect their choices and let them live their lives in peace.
