People say ‘second hand, old life’: Samantha

Actress Samantha recently opened up about the abuse and labels she faced after her divorce, particularly addressing the hurtful comments like “second-hand,” “used,” and “wasted life.” She shared her experience in a recent interview, reflecting on the deep-rooted patriarchy and sexual stigmas prevalent in Indian society. Samantha discussed how women going through divorce are subjected to immense shame and humiliation. She expressed that such comments often make women feel like failures, and believes that every woman who has gone through a divorce would understand the difficulty of this process.

Despite the challenges, Samantha emphasized that she is now happy, having grown personally and professionally. She shared how she has been working tirelessly and is eagerly looking forward to the next phase of her life. Samantha also mentioned how false and damaging rumors have been spread about her, but despite the temptations to defend herself, she has been focused on speaking the truth. She attributed her strength to the self-talk and encouragement she gave herself to keep moving forward.

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, after being in a long-term relationship, married in 2017 but separated in 2021. Naga Chaitanya is now set to marry Shobhita Dhulipala this December.
