Pushpa 2 on OTT? Producers Respond to Rumors
Breaking box office records, Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, continues its successful theatrical run. The film, which released on December 5, has already crossed ₹1500 crore in global collections. Amid this, reports have surfaced claiming the movie will soon be available on OTT, with rumors suggesting a January 9 release on Netflix.However, the film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, have refuted these claims. In an official statement, they clarified, “There are many rumors about the OTT release of Pushpa: The Rule. This holiday season, enjoy Pushpa 2 exclusively on the big screen. The movie will not be available on any OTT platform for 56 days after its theatrical release.
Despite mixed critical responses, the film is performing exceptionally well at the box office. Its Hindi version has amassed ₹990.7 crore, while the Telugu version collected ₹295.6 crore. In Tamil, the film earned ₹52.4 crore, and in Malayalam and Kannada, ₹7.13 crore each. In Kerala, the film was distributed by E4 Entertainment.
Plot Overview
The sequel picks up where the first installment left off, continuing the journey of Pushpa Raj (played by Allu Arjun), who rises to power as a dominant figure in Chittoor. The narrative is divided into three major arcs:
1. Pushpa’s resurgence and confrontation with Shekhawat (played by Fahadh Faasil).
2. The personal struggles of Pushpa as a family man, including fulfilling a heartfelt desire of his wife, Srivalli (Rashmika Mandanna).
3. Pushpa’s ultimate realization of his identity and purpose.
The film begins with an explosive action sequence set in Japan and unfolds as a continuation of the rivalry established in the first part.
Performance & Direction

The film was a phenomenal success at the Kerala box-office, it broke all existing records in Malayalam cinema until then.[1] It had a theatrical run of more than 366 days in Ernakulam Little Shenoys, with regular shows, and theatrical run of 300 days in Thiruvananthapuram Ajantha and more than 200 days in Kottayam Asha, Palakkad Priya, Chengalai Chithra with noon shows. It is one of the highest-grossing films in Malayalam film history.[2] It collected more than ₹3 crore from theatres
