Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring the legendary Rajinikanth, the film ‘Kooli’ has revealed its release date. Currently under production, reports suggest that the movie will be released worldwide on May 1st, Labor Day, next year. Since it falls on a holiday, the film is expected to garner strong opening day collections, making it a strategic release date.
‘Kooli’ is an action drama set in a period gangster thriller genre. The film’s plot revolves around gold smuggling from countries such as Singapore, Dubai, and the USA, according to reports. Produced under the banner of Sun Pictures, the film is produced by Kalanidhi Maran. Notably, this marks the reunion of Rajinikanth and Satyaraj after 38 years.
Recently, a viral post on social media featured Rajinikanth and his team celebrating Diwali together, with fans sending their best wishes. Rajinikanth and the crew were seen in black shirts and mundus, celebrating Diwali on the sets of Kooli.
However, a few months ago, a portion of the movie leaked on social media, causing a stir among the crew. Lokesh Kanagaraj expressed his disappointment, revealing that an important scene featuring Nagarjuna was leaked. Lokesh mentioned in a post that the leaked footage, which showed the actor wearing a ring, was the result of a solo recording, and the hard work of many people over two months had been wasted. He kindly requested that no one should engage in such actions as it affects the overall experience of a film.
Nonetheless, the anticipation for ‘Kooli’ continues to grow, with fans eagerly waiting for its release on May 1st in theaters.
