After Forensic Anas Khan and Akhil Paul are teaming up with Tovino as the lead for the movie Identity. The film, a crime investigation thriller, stars Trisha as the female lead. A star-studded cast also joins the movie, which has already sparked discussions with its trailer. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Identity. Meanwhile, Tovino Thomas has opened up about the biggest breakthrough in his career.
Tovino credits his career’s biggest break to the movie Ennu Ninte Moideen. He stated that it was Prithviraj who encouraged him after the movie. Tovino, who played a supporting role in the film, shared in an interview with Saina South Plus that Prithviraj advised him not to take up character roles anymore.
“Ennu Ninte Moideen was undoubtedly the turning point of my career. Looking back, it was the beginning of all the projects I do today. I still remember messaging Rajuvettan (Prithviraj) while watching the movie, thanking him for referring me for the role. He not only suggested me but also supported me throughout,” said Tovino.
He further added, “The film worked well for me. There were moments during the shoot where I felt emotional. I messaged him saying how great both his and Parvathy’s performances were. People also appreciated my role, which made me confident that I would get good characters in the future. That’s when Rajuvettan told me, ‘You shouldn’t do character roles anymore.’ I asked him why, as I believed good character roles were worth doing. But he replied, ‘No, you should now focus on lead roles.’ At the time, I thought he said it out of love and encouragement.”
After that, Tovino was open to listening to all kinds of stories. He humorously recalled how he once listened to 13 stories in a single day, which wasn’t a healthy approach. He mentioned, “A Plus-Two student once came to narrate a story. I took him to a bakery in Vyttila, bought him puffs and tea, and listened to his story. You never know who will bring you your big break. After Moideen, I spent about one and a half months listening to scripts. That’s how movies like Godha, Guppy, and The Mexican Aparatha happened. About 90% of them were lead roles, and that’s when I realized Rajuvettan’s advice was on point.”
