UK Police Make Second Arrest in Connection With Fires Linked to PM Starmer

 London, May 18, 2025 — ArtKerala.com News Desk

A major development raising tensions between political parties within the UK, police have arrested a second suspect as part of the investigation of a string of suspicious fires that are believed to be linked to the Prime minister Keir Starmer. The arrest, announced late on Saturday night, follows months of investigations into the arson-related incidents that has left the authorities as well as people in the community deeply worried.

Fires Under Scrutiny

The problems, which started in the spring of this year, saw specific fires at locations thought to be symbolic in nature such as the offices of constituencies and public service facilities that are linked with Labour policies. Though no deaths have been confirmed however the damages have been extensive and the intention extremely troubling.

The sources close to the investigation have revealed that the most recent suspect is in his 30s and who is believed to be connected to an extremist political group. The police confirmed that the arrest was made within the West Midlands and that the suspect is in custody in the Terrorism Act due to the political nature of the crime.

“This second arrest is a crucial step forward,” spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police Counter-Terrorism Command. “We are pursuing every lead to ensure public safety and protect democratic institutions.”

PM Starmer Responds

Premier Secretary Keir Starmer who has remained mostly calm when speaking in public has broken his silence at a gathering for the community in Manchester.

“Violence or intimidation has no place in our culture. We will not let ourselves be shocked,” Starmer stated firmly. “This country will stand united against those who try to divide us.”

The Starmer office has stated that although the Prime Minister was not directly attacked personally however, the significance of the attack could be a threat to the democratic principles and freedom of speech in the UK.

 Investigation Still Ongoing

Officials from law enforcement are investigating the entire potential of the case in the meantime, and further arrests are likely to occur. Police are currently examining the digital messages, CCTV footage and other evidence that could indicate an underlying plot or a coordinated strategy.

A number of intelligence experts suggest that arsons could have been created to provoke the political instability prior to the coming regional elections.

Public and Political Reactions

The story has provoked criticism from across the political spectrum. Even the critics from this administration Starmer administration have come out in support of a united front.

Conservative chief James Nolan said: “We may differ in ideology, but we’re united in defending our democracy.”
