Was Biju Kuttan sidelined due to caste or skin color? The actor responds.

Biju Kuttan, a well-known actor who transitioned from mimicry stages to Malayalam cinema, has been part of the industry for over two decades. Despite his initial success and recognition, the actor has seen a decline in film offers in recent years. Addressing the matter, Biju Kuttan clarified that he has never faced discrimination based on his skin color or caste but attributed the reduction in roles to the repetition of similar characters and overexposure.

“In 2012-13, I was mostly at home, without much work. Some people say they were sidelined in the industry, but I never felt that way. I was never treated unfairly because of my skin color, caste, or religion. Perhaps others may have experienced such discrimination, and I’m not dismissing their claims, but I never faced it personally,” said Biju Kuttan.

The actor pointed out that the stagnation in his career could be attributed to the monotony in the roles he was offered and overuse of his talent in similar genres. “If films reduce, it doesn’t make sense to say it’s because I am dark-skinned or from a particular caste. That would be like insulting legends like Mammootty and Mohanlal. Instead, we should reflect on how we are perceived or how repetitive our work has become.”

Despite the challenges, Biju Kuttan remains optimistic and views his career as fulfilling. “I’ve been in the industry for 18 years. I’m living in paradise now. No one has treated me unfairly. If I haven’t done something new, it’s because I haven’t had the opportunity. But if I get a chance, I will prove myself. I don’t blame anyone for my situation, nor do I see any value in doing so,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude for the support he received in mimicry shows, where industry stalwarts encouraged him to grow. “In mimicry, too, I was never sidelined. People like Tiny Tom always boosted my confidence. They encouraged me to perform better and work harder,” he added.

Biju Kuttan made his debut with Pothan Vava alongside Mammootty and later gained immense popularity through films like Chotta Mumbai with Mohanlal. Over the years, he has been part of numerous hits and continues to appear as a judge on comedy shows. His most recent film, Ajayan’s Second Theft, marked his return to the silver screen.

The actor’s candid revelations about his journey have been widely appreciated on social media, with fans applauding his grounded perspective and positive outlook on life and career challenges.
