Actor Allu Arjun was arrested following an incident at the Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad, where a stampede caused the death of a woman and left her son critically injured. The tragic event occurred during the first show of his movie Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Reports suggest that Allu Arjun has approached the Telangana High Court to dismiss the FIR filed against him in connection with the incident. The stampede happened on December 4, 2024, at the Sandhya 70MM Theater. The victim, Revathi, a 35-year-old woman, lost her life, while her 13-year-old son, Sritej, sustained severe injuries.
In his plea, Allu Arjun requested a stay on all legal proceedings against him, claiming that he had no knowledge of the events outside the theater as he was inside at the time. His legal counsel argued that the production team had informed both the theater management and the assistant police commissioner about Allu Arjun’s visit to ensure safety.
The theater management also confirmed that they had requested additional police presence to manage the crowd. However, they alleged that their requests were ignored, and only a minimal number of officers were deployed.
Based on a complaint by Revathi’s husband, the Chikkadpally police registered an FIR against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theater management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Indian Penal Code for negligence in crowd management during the premiere. Three individuals associated with the theater, including the senior manager, were arrested following the incident.
The tragedy unfolded as a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun, who had arrived at the theater with his family.
