In an interview Sabu Mon expressed his frustration after seeing a viral video of Santhosh Varkey interacting inappropriately with veteran actor Nandu. “In the video, he physically tapped Nandu while he was casually drinking tea. I asked Nandu why he didn’t react by retaliating. If it were me, I would’ve slapped him,” said Sabu Mon. He went on to add, “What right does he have to invade someone’s personal space? His mental state is clearly unstable, and the media should stop glorifying such behavior.”
Controversy with Nithya Menen
Santhosh Varkey has previously been accused of harassment by actress Nithya Menen. The actress alleged that he persistently disturbed her with unwanted advances, leading her and her family to file a police complaint. Varkey, however, denied the accusations, claiming he was merely expressing his admiration for her.
Commenting on this, Sabu Mon said, “If someone like him had harassed a girl in my family, I wouldn’t hesitate to take extreme action. Nithya Menen had to endure constant harassment, and she even had to change her phone number to avoid him. Imagine the fear of living in such circumstances. The media needs to act responsibly and stop creating celebrities out of such individuals.”
Sabu Mon also warned of the potential dangers posed by individuals like Santhosh Varkey, stating, “What if he takes drastic actions like an acid attack on someone out of spite? It’s time to think seriously about the safety of women and the responsibility of online media.”
