Basil Joseph, known for his successful ventures as a director and actor, continues to excel in both roles. After the massive success of Minnal Murali, Basil has been wrapping up his committed projects as an actor. With an active presence on social media, his videos and family pictures often go viral. His wife, Elizabeth, and their daughter, Hope, are familiar faces to Malayalam audiences. A year ago, the couple welcomed their first child after years of being in love and eventually tying the knot. Basil, often referred to as the “most famous vibe dad” in his own words, approaches fatherhood as a friend rather than a strict parent. However, in a recent revelation, he shared some complaints from his wife, Elizabeth. According to her, Basil needs to take fatherhood more seriously.
“She often reminds me that being a father comes with responsibilities. I still lack discipline and organization. When I come home, I’ll scatter things all over the place. It’s a problem most wives complain about. Even when we’re heading out, I won’t get ready on time. While everyone else is prepared, I’ll still be scrolling through my phone or distracted by something else. Finally, I’ll rush at the last minute. She sometimes says, ‘Grow up and act responsibly as a father.’ She also reminds me that this is not just a toy to play with—it’s our job to nurture and care for our child,” Basil admitted.
In February, Basil and Elizabeth celebrated their daughter’s first birthday. On that occasion, Basil took to social media to express, “It’s been a year full of hope and joy.”
Reflecting on fatherhood, Basil had previously shared, “When a child is born, the father in you awakens. No one has to teach you responsibilities; they come naturally. During Elizabeth’s delivery, I wasn’t one of those stereotypical husbands pacing nervously outside the room, as you see in movies. I was in the delivery room, and that support meant a lot to her. The moment I saw my baby for the first time, there was pride and happiness in realizing she’s my own. I didn’t cry dramatically, but maybe my eyes welled up a bit,” he said, recalling the emotional moment.
Basil and Elizabeth got married in 2017, after meeting at the College of Engineering, Trivandrum. His upcoming film, Sukshmadarshini, starring Nazriya Nazim, is eagerly awaited by fans. The movie is produced by Happy Hours Entertainments and AVA Productions, with Samir Thahir, Shyju Khalid, and AV Anoop as producers.
