The much-anticipated fantasy period drama Kanguva, starring Suriya and directed by Siruthai Siva, received mixed reviews upon its release. However, within hours of its theatrical debut, a high-quality pirated version of the movie surfaced on platforms like Telegram, available in resolutions ranging from 1080p to 240p. The movie has also been found on notorious piracy sites such as Tamilrockers and torrent platforms. Investigation teams have uncovered evidence that some other online platforms are also hosting the pirated version of Kanguva, making it easily searchable with specific keywords.
Studio Green, the producers of the film, have declared that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for the leak. The movie is produced under the banners of Studio Green by K.E. Gnanavel Raja and UV Creations by Vamsi and Pramod.
Kanguva is a fantasy-action film set 1,500 years ago, featuring Suriya in a dual role. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol plays the antagonist, while Disha Patani makes her Tamil debut in the movie. The cast also includes Yogi Babu, Prakash Raj, K.S. Ravikumar, Jagapathi Babu, Harish Uthaman, Natarajan Subramaniam, Anand Raj, Vasundhara Kashyap, Redin Kingsley, and Kovai Sarala. The film’s screenplay is penned by Madan Karki, Aadhi Narayana, and director Siva himself.
Released globally in 38 languages, Kanguva was one of the most awaited films of the year. However, the piracy issue has cast a shadow over its theatrical performance.
Meanwhile, Suriya’s next project, temporarily titled Suriya 44, is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The shooting for this romantic action film has already been completed. Pooja Hegde stars as the female lead alongside Suriya, with an ensemble cast featuring Jayaram, Joju George, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, and Karunakaran.
