Beloved actress Nithya Menen who has mesmerized audiences with her performances across various languages, recently opened up about her disinterest in the film industry despite her success. Nithya, who won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in Thiruchitrambalam, revealed in an interview that she would leave the industry if given the chance.
“I’ve Suffered a Lot in Life”
Nithya spoke candidly about her personal struggles:
“I’ve endured a lot of pain in my life. From a young age, I’ve faced challenges, which is why I value my happiness now. I’ve learned to choose the right people and prioritize joy. It’s through faith in God that I overcame my pain. I feel blessed.”
She credits spirituality for helping her heal. “I constantly questioned why I wasn’t happy, why I felt this way, and I found answers through spirituality. Now, I am genuinely happy. I’ve never struggled in my career—opportunities always came. My struggles were personal.”
Disinterest in the Film Industry
Nithya admitted she never liked the profession. “Even now, if I had an option, I’d leave. That’s the irony. I don’t talk about this often because I don’t want to seem ungrateful.” She explained how her personality contrasts with the demands of the film world:
“I’ve always craved a simple life—walking, enjoying nature, visiting parks. But that life isn’t available to me now. Sometimes I wonder, do I even need all of this?”
Her parents support her desire to step away from acting. Nithya shared how she had planned to slowly exit the industry, but the National Award came unexpectedly:
“It was God’s decision to keep me here. Before the award, I was preparing to leave.”
A Lonely Childhood
As an only child, Nithya experienced loneliness growing up. With her parents often busy with work, she spent much of her childhood alone. Reflecting on this, she said,
“Though it was tough at the time, I now realize it helped me understand myself and connect with spirituality.”
Through her honest revelations, Nithya Menen has shown that despite her success, she deeply values simplicity, personal happiness, and inner peace over the glamour of the film industry.
