One of the most anticipated upcoming Malayalam films, Marco, starring Unni Mukundan, is making waves among cinephiles. Touted as the “most violent film in Malayalam cinema,” the official teaser of Marco has already captured widespread attention. As the release date nears, the filmmakers have unveiled a significant update—Marco will include features to make the movie accessible to audiences with visual and hearing impairments.
Producer Shareef Muhammed announced that the film will be released with Audio Description (AD) and Closed Captioning (CC) to ensure that everyone can enjoy it. These features will be made available through the “Movie Buff Access” app. Produced under the banners of Cubes Entertainments and Unni Mukundan Films, Marco is set for a grand worldwide release in five languages on December 20, as a Christmas release.
“To make Marco accessible to everyone, we are including audio description and closed captioning features as per regulations. This will enable people with visual and hearing impairments to enjoy the film seamlessly,” said Shareef Muhammed.
A High-Octane Promotional Journey
The film, written and directed by Haneef Adeni, is being released in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The promotional content, including the teaser, posters, and songs, has already generated immense excitement among fans. The teaser alone has garnered over 5.2 million views on YouTube, while the first single, “Blood Dub,” sung by Santhosh Venky, took social media by storm. Two other songs—garnering 2.8 million and 2.4 million views, respectively—have further added to the buzz. The third track, “Marpappa,” sung by Baby Jean, has crossed 1 million views. All three songs reached the top three spots on YouTube Music’s trending list.
The film’s music, composed by Ravi Basrur of KGF and Salaar fame, has added to the high-voltage anticipation. Sony Music has acquired the music rights, and the teaser, labeled as showcasing the “most violent film in Malayalam,” has heightened curiosity for the release.
With just 17 days left for its release, Marco is poised to be an exhilarating cinematic experience, ensuring inclusivity and setting new standards for Malayalam cinema.
