The lyrical video of the song Dinam Dinamum from Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai 2 is gaining attention. Featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Manju Warrier, the song showcases Ilaiyaraaja’s soulful composition. Sung by Ilaiyaraaja and Ananya Bhatt, with lyrics also penned by Ilaiyaraaja, the song beautifully depicts the love and shared life between Vijay Sethupathi’s character Vaathiyaar and Manju Warrier’s character. Manju appears in a distinct getup in the song sequence.
Viduthalai 2 is set to hit theaters on December 20. The film, like its predecessor, addresses themes of state oppression. The first part, released on March 31, 2023, explored the government’s atrocities against indigenous tribal communities while attempting to capture Perumal, a Maoist leader also known as Vaathiyaar. It also delved into the emotional struggles of a young police recruit caught in the chaos.
In the second part, the narrative shifts focus to the backstory of Perumal’s rise as a Maoist leader and the political circumstances behind it. Vijay Sethupathi plays Vaathiyaar, while actor Soori reprises his role as Constable Kumaresan, the protagonist. The film also features notable performances by Anurag Kashyap, Kishore, Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, and Chetan.
