Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi, known for carving a niche for herself in cinema with memorable roles, has opened up about her decision to not get married. With hits like Mayaanadhi, Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, and Varathan, Aishwarya quickly rose to fame, gaining opportunities in Tamil and Telugu industries. Today, she holds a significant position in South Indian cinema. Her latest Malayalam film is Hello Mommy.
In a recent interview, Aishwarya revealed her stance on marriage, which has since gone viral. She stated, “I’ve always said I don’t want to get married. It’s not something I believe in as an institution. This isn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision—it’s something I’ve thought deeply about.”
She admitted that there was a phase when family pressure made her consider marriage, but she ultimately decided against it. “At one point, I did think about it because of societal expectations. But I realized that it’s not what I want. As a child, I dreamt of a wedding in Guruvayur Temple, complete with a tulsi garland and all the rituals. That came from growing up in a family devoted to Guruvayurappan and constantly visiting the temple. But as I grew older and saw real marriages around me, I noticed that most people weren’t happy. They were compromising and not growing as individuals. That’s when I realized it’s not for me.”
Aishwarya also shared that for two years after turning 30, she considered marriage, thinking about having a partner and kids. “But again, I realized it wasn’t what I truly wanted. The constant discussions around marriage made me consider even opening a matrimonial account, which I did, but luckily, nothing came of it because most people assumed my profile was fake!” she laughed.
Currently, Aishwarya is busy promoting Hello Mommy, co-starring Sharafudheen. Her upcoming Tamil projects include Thug Life and a film directed by Mani Ratnam, starring Kamal Haasan. Fans are also eagerly awaiting her next appearances after her role in Ponniyin Selvan, where her screen time was limited.
Aishwarya’s candid take on life and career continues to resonate with audiences, setting her apart as a star who makes bold and thoughtful decisions.
