“Planned a Movie with Nazriya as the Lead; It Got Delayed Due to Various Reasons”: Basil

The movie Sookshmadarshini, directed by MC and starring Basil Joseph and Nazriya Nazim in lead roles, has created intrigue with its unique title. The trailer, released yesterday, is mysterious and exciting, providing hints about the story but not revealing the movie’s tone or genre. Now, Nazriya and Basil, who play key characters in the film, have shared insights about Sookshmadarshini.

According to Basil, Sookshmadarshini features a character played by Nazriya that audiences wouldn’t expect from her. “We don’t have the typical couple chemistry in this movie. Both of us are portraying roles that are far from what viewers anticipate. That’s what makes it most exciting. Technically, too, the movie has a great team,” Basil said.

“After Minnal Murali, there was a plan to make a movie with Nazriya as the lead in collaboration with Bhavana Studios, but it got delayed for various reasons. Hopefully, it will materialize soon. Many ask how I manage to do movies back-to-back. I believe it’s because I work hard, good movies are being made, and I get the opportunity to be part of them. Maybe people see me as a good fit for roles of an unemployed, carefree young man, which might explain why I am consistently cast. I trust that as long as I am part of quality films, I can stay in this industry for a while,” Basil shared.

Nazriya added, “More than an actor, Basil is a director I admire greatly. Acting alongside him was very exciting. Viewers see us as two actors who offer a minimum guarantee of quality, which is a huge responsibility for us. The film is filled with unexpected suspense and twists that the audience won’t see coming.”

Produced under the banners of Happy Hours Entertainment and AVA Productions by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, and AV Anoop, the screenplay of Sookshmadarshini is written by Libin and Athul. The music is composed by Christo Xavier.
